A very cool idea--the evil wizard Krummholz is stealing people from their beds and forcing them to build a tower. Jenia, now awake, seeks to find his tower in the real world. Jenia is nicely competent and as an arborist has an affinity with trees. The book was a touch heavy on world-building in a few chapters, but built to a satisfying conclusion.
