Written by a lady who inherited a collection of clothing from her (American) Godmother. Each page tells a short story of the clothing and it's former owner, with a lovely colour illustration on the facing page. This is the perfect book to dip into when you haven't much time to read.

Author focused more on the stories behind the outfits and their owners which is way more interesting than technical details of the dress. Only criticism is that I wish the outfits were photographed and not drawn/illustrated.

I love this book. So much history in pieces of clothing

Just like "Dreaming of Dior" a fabulous little coffee table book!

Going by the description, I was expecting photos of the original pieces and fabrics with the details of where they came from and when. An interesting read about the collection of vintage clothing and fashion.Instead, it is a book of stylized drawings with a paragraph about "a boy and a girl meet and she wore this dress." The type of thing you do not even need an inherited collection of gowns to do!A proper novel about the inheritance would have been worth a read, but this is just a waste of time [...]

This is a lovely book. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the stories light and interesting. But i have one issue with it this is based on a real collection of real dresses in the authors possession and, while the illustrations are gorgeous, it is difficult to imagine the delicate lace or intricate beading from a few splotches of colour in the picture. i would have preferred to see an accompanying photograph of each actual garment to fully appreciate it.

I won't discount the collection of stories or clothes. It would've been better served with more detailed stories and pictures of the previous owners who once wore them. (The drawings are great; however, nothing can replace the real deal.)

This is a fun book to read on a cold day in front of a roaring fire.I loved the drawings and the stories attached to each garment were sweet.I personally would of loved to have more detailed stories but what we are given suffices for the type of book that it is.

A perfect book for anyone that loves vintage fashion. Charlotte Smith transports her readers to the days gone by with her detailed account of every single piece of clothing found in her enormous collection of vintage pieces. A must read for any aspiring designer!

Loved it as much as the first one ♥

Lovely drawings and evocative writing. I really lost myself in this fantasy of fashion!

Re-hash of the Dior one, fun to look at but the narrative gets boring quickly as Smith is more concerned with name dropping than exploring the history of some dresses

Almost as good as her first book, Dreaming of Dior. Again, a fun fashion vacation from everyday life.
