Daniel Brand couldn't quite believe his eyes as he passed by the gallery. Daniel hadn't seen Kirri Smith for a few years. Daniel had fallen in love with Kirri back in New Orleans two years ago and she was going to become his wife that was until the day she vanished. Daniel spent countless hours and days as well as hiring a private investigator in the hope to find her, but there was no trace of her. Shortly after approaching Kirri in the gallery, Daniel soon discovers that Kirri doesn't recognise [...]

Kirri Smith was an artist, and owned a gallery in Cairns. When American Daniel Brand wandered past her gallery on a short break before he headed to Sydney, he was shocked by a sense of familiarity with a picture in the window. On heading into the gallery, and spotting Kirri, he felt like he’d been hit by a brick! For Kirri was the beautiful young woman he had fallen in love with in New Orleans two years ago, and who had promised to be his wife. After her disappearance, he had spent countless h [...]

4 Stars. My first Sandy Curtis novel did not disappoint. Nicely paced and full of intrigue. Just who is trying to kill American Daniel Brand? Only just finding the love of his life two years after she vanished, Daniel is faced with losing artist Kirri and sweet little Catelyn all over again. There are some nicely placed clues to keep you interested, and all neatly wrapped up. Definitely interested in reading more from this author.

This book is quite different from the books i normally read. Combining romance with crime and intrigue it made for an unusual dance of genres. The story goes of American Daniel who is in Australia for business walking into an art gallery in Queensland Sunshine Coast. He is transfixed when he sees a lady he thought he would never see again called Kirri. Three years earlier they had met and fallen in love only for her to disappear after a three week courtship. What is even more perplexing for Dani [...]

Black Ice by Sandy Curtis is a story you can really sink your teeth into.A compelling page-turner with two wonderful central characters, Kirri and Daniel, they were brilliant together and gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling. The flow of the story was superb: it never seemed to go too fast or too slow. A highly entertaining read. Suspenseful, intriguing and engrossing.

I have read this a few times and enjoyed it each time. I have never read the books in order though, they are stand alone stories with the characters taking their turns in centre stage. This time I began with Dance with the Devil and I'm reading Sandy's books in their proper order. This was my first encounter with Sandy Curtis back in 2002 and hooked me from the beginning.

Good book, Queensland interest
