This was on a featured shelf at my library and adorned with a large "Midwest Connections Pick" sticker, but still I worried about a cookbook from a Slow Food person written about the "Midwest" since for some oddball reason, most East Coast types persist in thinking Ohio is the Midwest. I was more than delighted to see that this was not in fact written by an Easterner, but a resident of . . . . Iowa City! And that the book correctly manages to identify the "Midwest" Many of the producers and rest [...]

loved the interviews and stories from Midwestern slow foodies written by our very own local chef, Kurt Friese. the chapter on Simone's Plain and Simple made me long for it to be summer so that I can *finally* fulfill a resolution and make a summers-eve reservation for one of her amazing dinners.
