You can find this review in English below3.5 stars.
3.5 stars. The intensity of this one much less than Ms. O'Connell's other books. The story lighter, Garn is too nice to be a hitman and I didn't dislike Edie but I couldn't like her either, and that the first time I feel that way toward Ms. O'Connell's heroine. It didn't matter tho, the story is interesting and for a novella still a good read and much better than plenty full length novel available out there!:)
3.5So it's good. And I really really appreciated the author sending it out to her subscribers because I love her books!! So this one. This one was goood. It would have been great had I not read her previous books but it lost just a little bit because it reminded me sooo much of a mash up of her precious characters. Even the plot line was similar to a previous book (even tho I still love this plot line). It was short and sweet perfect for a beach read and I still highly recommend it! I love your [...]
3.5ish. Honestly, this is a recycled mash-up of several of her books, but I love all of her heroes so I won't complain about that. But the short length of it made it harder to connect with the characters this time, which is part of the fun/process of getting to know her more stoic/still-water heroes.
Breaking the Rules is a short story for EOC’s mailing list subscribers.EOC’s western romances are by far my favorites of recent years. This one would be more accurately titled ,“Edie, the exception to Garn’s Every Rule.” ;)Although brief,Breaking the Rules entertains the entire time. It begins with Garn watching the cruel sheriff in town push around what appears to be a scrawny weaker man, which is bad enough in Garns eyes- worse yet, the weaker man, turns out to be a woman. Although G [...]
I enjoyed it. Very similar to Beautiful Bad Man and since I made the mistake of reading them back to back, they get mixed up in my memories. I felt like the ending was too rushed. I wish they had more time to discuss their feelings or get an epilogue of her reaction to his little piece of land. It was nice that we have a widow that actually loved her first husband. I wish things hadn't been ugly with her husband at the end and we had a story with a widow who fully loved her husband until the end [...]
I always love Ms. O'Connell's writing. Her heroines are strong without being bratty or selfish and her heroes are the perfect mixture of tough and tender. She always has a good plot that makes sense, and her westerns are true-to-life. Obviously I loved this book, since I rated it five stars, but if I had a complaint, it would be to say that I would have liked to see more relationship development. The hero and heroine were perfect for each other, but the reader didn't really get to see them fall [...]
this was a bonus read to me, since I thought I'd finished all this author's historical romances but then signed up for the mailing list when I found out about this one. it was shorter than most of her other books but still long enough to have substance. I really enjoyed reading about Edie and Garn; the story had the author's signature excellent writing and characters (both H and h) that I just fall for. excellent.
this was a PDF sent with her newsletter and I read it online. A short novel that was a complete and enjoyable read. Garn Coburn and Edie Thorne were two very interesting people brought together in a tough situation and eventually fell in love. He was going to help her get her personal belongings off of her land and gather her herd for sale. I loved his talk about his rules he lived by.
In most short novels I am usually left feeling annoyed because either too many plot lines are introduced and don't get wrapped up by the end of the story, or the author speeds up and everything magically turns out fine. This short novel didn't do either of those two things. I cared about the characters and any plot line that was introduced was able to play itself out. Great read!
Excellent, as always.
Too much like her other books. I felt like I had already read it.
Sweet read, just wished the ending could have been drawn out more.
