Absolutely exceptional! Breathtaking; beautiful; heartbreaking and outstanding! When Mia Moretti arrived in Florence, she was unsure of her feelings. Her confidence was at an all-time low, but she was in remission – had been for nine months. She loved her parents back in Melbourne, Australia, but had felt the need to recover her old self on her own. The apartment she was to share with Stella was a two storey wonder of architecture – the friends who surrounded Stella immediately included Mia [...]

Four and a half stars.Though nineteen year old Australia Mia Moretti has been cancer free for nine months, it has not stopped the fears that haunt her days and nights. Fear of the cancer returning has taken such a hold on her that she can no longer paint. When an opportunity arises to travel to Tuscany she jumps at the chance, hoping it will get her life and art back on track. Her parents understandably worry, but let her go knowing this is something she needs to do. In Tuscany Mia meets more th [...]

I was very lucky to read this book as a manuscript and I was absolutely transported to Tuscany and I did not want to leave! Such a gorgeous love story, interwoven with a story of art, of finding and trusting oneself, and of learning to live life. Vanessa obviously knows Italy very well and it all comes to life in the book: the language, the landscape, the art and the atmosphere. A story and a set of characters that will stay with you long after you reluctantly have to leave them and Tuscany behi [...]

A very pretty romance that appealed to me, though it is a genera I rarely visit.A gentle, light, story that follows a young Australian woman on her journey as she rediscovers life, her sense of self and her art. Mia had been on track to become an artist back home (Australia), with an acceptance to a renowned art course, a portfolio, friends and family. Then came Hodgkins lymphoma to turn her life around. Sick after the chemo and shattered by her fears of death Mia travels across the world to red [...]

My first 5 star book for 2017. This is a beautiful, emotional, picturesque and thought provoking book -hard to believe it is a debut novel. I was swept away with the descriptions of Florence and surrounds. The depictions of the architecture, art, people, culture and of course the story of Mia and Luca had me captivated from beginning to end, in fact I read half of this book in one day. This is more than just a love story, it is life-lit as well. Vanessa had me hooked and just when I thought I kn [...]

This is the most sweetest and saddest love story I've ever read. I was in bed sick with the flu but I still read this in two sittings as once I picked it up it was awfully hard to put down and then only because I was too ill to continue and needed sleep. I loved Mia and Luca's instant connection and their love story was most intriguing. The vivid description of Florence and the Amalfi Coast was breathtaking, it took me back to when I visited Italy 32 years ago - loving and exploring Lake Garda, [...]

This breathtaking debut novel is one that will stay with me for a long time. Set in one of the most beautiful regions of the world, Carnevale takes readers on an emotional, cultural and scenic journey into the world of Mia and Luca. Mia’s struggle touched my heart and Luca’s support and encouragement made me fall in love with him, just like Mia did. I adored this novel and I cannot wait to read Vanessa Carnevale’s next book. For a wonderful escape into beautiful Florence, I highly recommen [...]

Oh what a wonderful story. One oozing with young love, healing, hope and emotion so beautifully described and descriptively written. I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday read which was set in Italy telling the story of a young artist fleeing Australia struggling to recover from cancer. An amazing story of girl meets boy who fall madly in love and so much more.I highly recommend this book.

A lovely, heartwarming and romantic read. I smiled most of the way through, with a few tears for good measure.

I'll admit, I don't prioritise reading nearly enough, and rarely get to the end of books The Florentine Bridge is the first book I have read in its entirity for a few years, and every moment spent reading it was mesmerising. The Florentine Bridge is the perfect book to pick up on a weekend or holiday, when you want to disappear to another place, the world of other people falling in love in a beautiful space. At times it felt a little like I was spying on the lives of two young lovers, a little g [...]

Part romance and part coming of age, The Florentine Bridge delights right from the start. Vanessa Carnevale has an easy writing style that sweeps you up and immerses you, not only into the lives of her characters, but into the surrounds and the setting of the story as well. It was a real treat to get such a vivid sense of Tuscany through Mia's tourist gaze and I particularly appreciated the more anecdotal references and local conviviality sprinkled throughout. The true highlight for me with this [...]

She is inspired to get out her watercolours once again to paint and capture the Italian landscape. It is here where she s [...]

Now I want to learn to paint and travel to Italy! Vanessa has written an emotionally engaging and evocative tale of romance and self-discovery. The vivid descriptions of Italy and painting drew me in and the slow burn romance kept me turning pages. I really connected with Mia - I felt like I got right inside her head. And Luca **swoon** I could listen to him talk all day long. A fabulous debut from Vanessa - I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.

Rating: 3,5*I like the story but not the "insta love" thing between MC (Luca and Mia). They fell in love after after just two days after their first meeting and this was unrealistic. In the other half of book story became better and I sobed at some parts. If you love Italy, art, culture and Italian people, this book is just for you!

This tender love story benefits from being set in Tuscany, where artist Mia is recovering from cancer when she meets Luca a charismatic Italian mechanic .Mia is battling her fears of the illness returning and wanting to rekindle her joy in painting. Luca and Florence both provide her with inspiration. It was easy to feel an affinity to Mia with her choice of Botticelli as a favourite painter. Mia notices that one of my own favourite paintings Botticelli's The Birth of Venus embodies" The driving [...]

*I was sent this book by the author for an honest review*Thanks so much to author Vanessa Carnevale for reaching out – I was absolutely captivated by this book and by Mia.This is such a beautiful story. Set in Italy, we join Mia after she has just kicked cancers ass and is in need of a fresh start. This book is full of emotion and Carnevale has crafted a main character that is so vibrant and so thoughtful that you can’t help but like her. Her male counterpart Luca is as delightful as she is a [...]

Copy received via Netgalley for an honest reviewThe Florentine Bridge should really be called A Love Letter To Tuscany.Ms Carnevale's debut novel is a vivid, descriptive, beautiful story of love, life and taking chances. The beautiful cover drew me in, the romance of the city and Mia and Luca's love kept me intrigued.Whilst at times the pacing was a little jumpy - sometimes it was like speed racer and other times it was very slow - it all evened itself.I got swept away with the imagery, placing [...]

The chemistry between Luca and Mia leaps off the page. They fall in love amongst the most romantic backdrop of the rolling Tuscan countryside and narrow alleys of Florence. Their love story is at times heart-wrenching and so all-encompassing that it is impossible to not shed a tear. Loved it! Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy.

This is a beautifully written book about second chances and living life to the fullest. A once-in-a-lifetime love story that is well paced and emotional, immersing you in the culture of Tuscany. This is one of those books where you'll be thinking about the characters long after reading the last page.Reader beware: despite transporting you to Tuscany, you're going to want to book a flight to Italy immediately after finishing this book!

This is truly a love letter to Florence and the Tuscany region. To the Amalfi Coast, to the Florentine Bridge, to sunshine and painting and Italian food and coffee, oh my. I’ve never been but I could visualise it all from this book, and now of course all I want to do is go there. The story is also lovely, about an Australian cancer survivor, fresh out from chemo, who travels to Italy to heal and paint. There she meets Luca, and things look so optimisticuntil something terrible happens. A tende [...]

This was a lovely debut novel with an amazing setting.

This was such an enjoyable read who could go wrong with young lovers and beautiful ItalyI certainly hope we hear a lot more of Vanessa Carnevale as the debut novel was outstanding

This book was such a pleasure to read! I felt like I was transported to Florence with Mia and I was thoroughly invested in her journey from the first chapter. I stayed up later than I should have the last two nights in an effort to find out what was going to happen in the very dramatic ending. I was very satisfied with the conclusion too, although I was biting my nails right up until the last page. I loved the setting so much and it was lovely to have my head full of thoughts of Tuscany as I wen [...]

**3.5 stars**Mia Moretti has been in remission from cancer for the last 9 months. She is a young inspiring artist and gave up her chance to study art when she became sick and since then her work has become very dark. She wants the chance to free herself from her depression and to live again so she surprises herself and her parents, by arranging a trip to Italy and hoping to start painting again. Initially planning to stay for six weeks in the town of Impruneta just out of Florence, she finds a j [...]

This is the first foray for the author and I found the book to be alive with descriptions that made you want to jump on a plane and head for Tuscany. I could smell the lemons and see the buildings. Imagined the coffee and the cool crisp breezes. It was a lovely read, though quite a tear jerker in parts, just as you think everything is hunky dory, things take a little twist. For me personally it bought back memories that were hard to read through, but it made the book realistic and vivid. I would [...]

Finding this hard to believe that this is a debut novel – it is emotional and stunning and I just loved it. This is a beautiful love story of Mia and Luca in the gorgeous setting of Italy. We follow Mia as she has recently overcome the battle of her life with cancer and decides to leave her support and family and explore not only another country, but the point of life and living each second in the moment. An easy 5 stars for me – loved it!
