This is the last book in the Regency Makeover trilogy and we finally get the back story and romance of Helene Fitzgerald, the driving force behind the group. Helene is notorious for two things, breaking her betrothal and being a blue stocking. But, like her friends she is determined to make this season a success, she has a plan and she needs the connections and popularity she gains to bring them to fruition. It was never in her plans to fall in love, especially not with her best friend’s broth [...]

This was definitely my favorite of the trilogy! Helene had been, up to this point, a rather mysterious character. Never seeming as developed as the other girls in the earlier books. Always being a stoic, dependable friend, but never really a well fleshed-out character. Then, reading this last book, it all became so clear. She was a woman with secrets, and inner demons to rival those that her fellow wallflowers had already overcome. Seeing her from this new angle was just what was needed to bring [...]

Helene was once engaged but after finding out some horrifying details about her fiancé she ended the engagement loudly and very publically. After that she constantly spoke her mind whether it was proper or not and was then labeled a bluestocking. She doesn’t regret her decision to end the engagement but the money that her fiancé would have brought to her titled but destitute family would have been a godsend. When she makes a plan with her two friends to increase their social standings she sti [...]

The story opens with a lot of information, but none of it feels like a purge of backstory. Instead, we just meet the hero and heroine as they meet each other; Lady Helene Fitzgerald barges into her host's library, ostensibly to find a book, while he, Marcus Edicott, the Duke of Windford is already there. Really, Helene is trying to find Marcus' sister Adele after she fled from her overbearing sister.Marcus is immediately intrigued. Though Helene is supposed to be a harridan bluestocking, he rath [...]

This the final novella in Darcie Wilde’s concurrent Regency Makeover series and features the most admirable of all the heroines. Three debutante wallflowers seek acceptance (and, thus, survival) in London high society by re-making themselves both socially as well as fashionably. Along the way, Adele, Madeline, and Helene become good friends and make love matches all under the sponsorship and limited supervision of Deborah Sewell, a lady novelist with a mysterious air who lives alone. The first [...]

Ms. Wilde: Do your homework! I don't understand why you write a regency romance when you don't bother to do any research about the period. Anda duke is NEVER addressED as "Lord"! It would be either "Your Grace", "His Grace", Duke of Windford or just Windford, but Never Lord Windford! Get it together sister! Also Helene being the daughter of a viscount would be a "Miss", not a "Lady"EESH! Marcus and Helene had so much potential as characters, but were placed in an ill written, sloppy story.

This trifecta of wee stories about girls working to overcome the stigma that society saddled them with and find love at the same time was quite adorable and, even better, they came out one after the other, making them easier to devour. 3.5 stars

three and a half stars.

Entertaining read.Good characters. The story began awkwardly with a rehashing of the two previous novelettes. There was a happy ending. Good length.
