I am not really sure how many pages this book has, but it certainly felt like too many.I went into this story with positive feelings and decent expectations. The premise sounded so interesting: a girl who works for Magazine has a secret admirer who sends her love letters, and now she's on a mission to found out who he is.It even says it is perfect for fans of Lindsey Kelk.I am not sure if the person who actually wrote that premise ever read a book written by Lindsey Kelk, but let me just say: her [...]

Read on the WondrousBooks blog.I'd reviewed for Carina UK once before and I decided to check their profile out on NetGalley. That's how I stumbled upon this book and I was so excited about it when I requested it, that I could barely content myself until my request was approved. Therefore, I think my expectations were just a bit too high. But look at that spectacular cover, read the awesome blurb and you'll understand me.I couldn't say that Just the Way You Are is masterfully written, but it's fun [...]

This is a story about a twenty six year old woman that has had a secret admirer few years prior that suddenly starts sending her more letters. At the same time she goes on dates with a man from work that has "potential". And she spends times with a friend that she has a "spark" with. I really wanted to like it, the story had so much potential but I just couldn´t make myself enjoy it. The main character was so incredibly annoying I´m happy I don´t have friends like her.I´m gonna find him! No [...]

I’ve been looking forward to this book for so long but I’ve also been a bit worried about reviewing it; being written by someone I know and am very close to. I was also worried that my readers would find my review very biased because of that reason. Although, yes, I may be slightly biased in my opinion, Lynsey knows that I will always be honest with her about things I like/disliked. Luckily, for me, there was very little I disliked! I absolutely flew through it; it was so easy and effortless [...]

My goodness people, this is a belter. I always feel wary of reviewing books written by people I know - I always worry I'll dislike it and have to lie that it's great or I'll really love it and people will think I'm lying. But no, neither of those things matter with this book because anyone who reads it will see I'm not lying when I say I LOVED IT. It's always a slightly scary experience delving into a debut as you don't know if the writing style will suit you and the plot will grab you. Sometime [...]

Dear reader, How do you start writing a review for a book you have fallen head over heels in love with? I'm hoping you know, as I'm not sure I have the skills, or know how to turn how much I love Just The Way You Are, into a usable review. This is easily the most romantic book I have read this year (so far). I was gripped from the first moment, where we meet Ava. How do I describe Ava? Well she is unlucky in love, and has just lost out writing the dating column for the magazine she write for. Aft [...]

When Lynsey James asked me if I would review her book I jumped at the chance as I know she is very active in the blogosphere and that some of my fellow bloggers rate her very highly and are good friends with her. I loved the idea behind Just the Way You Are even before I began reading because I am a big fan of letter writing. It's such a personal way of telling somebody your feelings, and you can often be so much more open than you could ever be face to face. I find that to be the case anyway an [...]

My love of Chick Lit has been waning in recent months, but every now and then, I like to pick up a Chick Lit read and remind myself of some of the good times. After all, some of my favourite authors still write Chick Lit novels and as long as I don’t overdose on Chick Lit, I’m good. One novel that caught my eye was Just The Way You Are by Lynsey James. I heard about it a little while ago and it sounded fantastic, and just a teensy little bit like Lucy Robinson’s outstanding A Passionate Lo [...]

Actual rating 3.5I've 'known' Lynsey on twitter for a few years now through the book blogger community and was thrilled to hear she'd been offered a book deal with Carina! She'd mentioned her writing before and I loved the idea of a mysterious admirer sending old-fashioned love letters - after all, you can't get much more romantic than that.Just the Way You Are is Ava's story. There's her work life, where she's desperate to write a barn-storming article to win the dating column from her arch-riv [...]

2 "Be Yourself" StarsBased on the blurb I was really intrigued and excited to read this book, but in the end, I was disappointed. During college Ava began receiving love letters from a secret admirer referred to as Mr. Writer. In the letters Mr. Writer lets it be known that he knows Ava well but just isn't secure enough to out himself yet. Finally he says he's going to meet her, but never shows up and the letters stop. Six years later, Ava is writing for a magazine and spending time with her bes [...]

This review was first published at M's Bookshelf - mssbookshelf.ocmHow many times can two people who are perfect for each other screw up their chance of happiness together? Apparently, a lot.Lynsey James has created some wonderful, easy to love characters. It's heartbreaking to watch them go through break-ups and self-doubt, because you can't help but feeling they're your close friends. You want the absolute best for them - which is why, at times, you just want to give them a good slap on the bu [...]

I don't think it lived up to what I thought it would be but it was a decent story. I could tell it was max right away. Just a shame they missed all that time together dating the wrong people. I don't know if there was a book before this but it would have been nice to see when it started 6 years ago then starting at the present time.

Just the Way You Are is chick lit at its finest! I loved following Ava on her journey of finding Mr. Writer! The entire story was great and the ending was perfect! This is a must read for all chick lit lovers!

"Just the Way You Are" is probably one of the most anticipated releases in May - firstly, the premise to the book had me already at the first word, it's brilliant! Secondly, yes, I know, I'm a sucker for a great cover, and it is a great cover, no? And thirdly, Lynsey James is a book - blogger turned author! And it's really hard to judge a book written by a fellow blogger! But, as Lynsey herself was also on the other side, she perfectly realises that we are here to write our own, honest opinions [...]

3.5/5Posted in full reviewedthebook/2015 I loved the cover, the synopsis, everything about Just The Way You Are before I even started. I was swooning over the whole idea of a secret admirer sending mysterious love letters, and that he was still persevering even if the last letter had been sent six years ago. Lynsey James’ debut novel felt really original and her writing is quite charming and really helped me immerse myself in the story straight away. I instantly felt connected to the protagoni [...]

Bookaholic ConfessionsYou could say that Ava is unlucky in love…but it would be a bit of an understatement. Living in fear of ending up knee deep in Whiskas (aka a cat lady) it seems as though her best friend Max is the only man she can rely on. Although even he has a highly unlikable bitchy girlfriend who makes life difficult for Ava.Things are looking even more grim when Ava is beaten to the job of writing the dating column for Sleek magazine by her evil colleague Maddie. However when a lett [...]

*Book provided by the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*Can I just say how proud I am of Lynsey for getting the publishing deal with Carina. This debut novel is wonderful and I am sure it will be a great success. Well done, gorgeous lady, so well deserved!!!As you can tell I was pretty excited about this book, for several reasons. Lynsey has become a lively friend and I lived following her journey on Twitter, the blurb of this story just sounds fab and the cover is amazing [...]

Fast-paced, witty and absolutely irresistible, Lynsey James’s Just the Way You Are is a first-class debut novel that is a must-read for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Miranda Dickinson!Even though Mr Right might be taking his own sweet time making an appearance, Ava Clements loves her life. With her two best friends, Max and Gwen, by her side and her dream job as the dating columnist for Sleek magazine looming on the horizon, Ava has got no cause to complain – until the day everything goes wron [...]

Absolute drivel. I don't normally write long reviews that include multiple rants, but in this case it seems justified. I felt tricked into purchasing this book.I chose this book because I needed something lighthearted, but it also promised to appeal to fans of Mhairi McFarlane. Don't be fooled! McFarlane writes intelligently, with humor and is capable of creating more complex characters who do not need to explain their every motivation to the reader - who is obviously an idiot.Granted, if the re [...]

First of all I would like to thank Cara at Harlequin for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was delighted to be able to be part of the blog tour.Just The Way You are follows Ava as she attempts to uncover Mr Writer, the mysterious secret admirer who sends her the most romantic love letters. The letters begin suddenly six years after he lost wrote, when he failed to meet Ava as planned and broke her heart. Ava is unlucky in love, but is desperate to win back the da [...]

Someone started writing letters professing their love for Ava more than six years ago whilst she was at University. They were so romantic, heartfelt and fantastic that she longed to meet him but he never signed them and she was unaware who was sending them. Then he suggested he reveal his identity. She turned up at the venue but he didn’t and the letters stopped. Ava was heart broken. Now, six years later, the letters have restarted . . . still anonymous, still lovely and now she’s determine [...]

Review originally posted at 125pages.wordpress.*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.4 StarsAva Clements has a bad history with love and marriage. Her mom has been married seven times and her last boyfriend moved to Hong Kong to get away from her. Writing the wedding column for Sleek magazine just adds insult to injury. Ava doesn’t believe in happy endings as she never had hers. Six years ago Ava had a secret admirer, Mr. Writer, whose letters made her fall in love a [...]

I love a good love story. More than that, I love a good happy ending. Just the Way You Are by Lynsey James is a story that can make your heart sing and will leave you with a perma-smile attached to your face. This is exactly what Just the Way You Are does to you. It is an honest-to-goodness-will-they-won’t-they tale of love and I couldn’t put it down.Admittedly I wanted to shake some sense into our protagonist Ava; she just couldn’t see the love that was right in front of her. Her whole li [...]

The setup of the story is interesting enough. Back in college Ava received letters from a secret admirer, but he left her heartbroken when he didn’t show up at their planned big reveal. Now six years later, he starts writing again and Ava is determined to discover who he is. Unfortunately within the first quarter of the book I had already figured out who Mr Writer was, and apparently everyone in Ava’s circle knew as well just never though to mention it to her.Her search leads to some funny a [...]

I was sent a copy of this book in return for an honest review.Ava Clements works as a journalist. Unlucky in life and love, Ava can’t even remember when she last went on a second date. But things could start turning around for her if she gets to work on the dating column, a position she really wants. Except that the office bitch gets it instead. It’s a good thing then her two best friends, Max and Gwen are always there for her when things go wrong.Ava has known for ages why dates with other [...]

Originally posted on Paris Baker's Book Nook.Thank you Carina for providing me with a review copy via NetGalley - yet another stunning cover from you guys! As soon as I read the blurb I was gripped on the concept - who doesn't love the idea of love letters from a secret admirer?I couldn't help but feel for Ava as I read through her turmoil over Mr Writer. He left her so heartbroken when he stood her up the first time, could she really take the risk of letting him do so again? She's torn between [...]

Just the way you are is a sweet, heart warming, heart wrenching story about true love. It for me at least, was perfect in everyway. We meet Ava who has just lost out on her dream job, to the office nightmare, and cant even find anything remotely close to love. However, there was something close - once. Six years previous, Ava had started reciving love letters, that were the most beautiful things ever, as the time drew closer for the pair to meet, things changed and mr writer never showed on the [...]

This is sweet chick-lit. A little bit sickly in parts but also a little quirky and I did enjoy it even though it was a little bit obvious what was going to happen most of the way through. It ticked all the right boxes for its genre. A sweet, insecure heroine, a quirky female best friend, an unsatisfactory job. But then you also get a best male friend who isn't gay (unusual) and his nasty nasty girlfriend. Bosses who are unfair, a spiteful work rival and the reunion of an aging couple who haven't [...]

ARC was provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest reviewWow. Just wow. I kind of knew where this book was going say, 50 pages in. But I'm glad I kept going! This book was such a joy to read.Ava has never gotten over the stranger who wrote her love letters in college. She's never given herself a fair chance at love because she's been holding out for the guy who stopped writing her years ago.So when she decides to give herself a fair shot at love, up pops Mr. Admirer again, professing his l [...]

I really loved this book and the idea of a secret admirer writing beautiful letters! Who needs Mr Right when you've got Mr Writer? Well Ava does and she is determined to find out who Mr Writer is to see if he can possibly match up to his romantic words. She has been particularly unlucky with relationships and has more or less given up on finding Mr Right. It is ironic that she is the wedding reporter for a glamorous magazine covering the special day of other happy couples. There are several love [...]
