I checked this out to see if I wanted to turn it into a flannel board (inspired from Flannel Friday) for out Hat & Socks storytime kit. It's an okay story, but it cracked me up when Mrs. Honey went looking for dandelions so she could make wine! HA! Just checked the pub date--I would have thought earlier tha this, it was 1992.
cute but pointless
My library has this in big book format. I'm not sure if it would go over well in story time in a smaller format. The Children enjoyed looking for what was being taken and added to Mrs Honey's Hat. 3/7/12I have to remember to use the big book formats, when I can. They really seem to get the children's attention and help them focus. 3/13/13Remembered this since my holds didn't all come. 3/10/15Used for story time - the big format helps hold attention, though it is difficult to hold and read.
This book may be used to teach sequencing of event, the days of the week and even the seasons. This book would be excellent with a large prop like a large hat with different items on it. It may also be used to help children learn the different parts of a story (beginning, middle and end). Mrs Honey's Hat is good light hearted read aloud that will have your children laughing.I could see this book being used
I loved this book. I dressed like Mrs Honey, made a hat like the store talks about and visited daycares. It was so much fun.
We borrowed this book with kit from the library. He loved the idea of putting and pulling the items on and off Mrs, Honey's hat! A great idea for toddlers and young children.
Mrs. Honey's hat evolves over the week as animals steal original elements and leave their own surprises. The result is not elegant haberdashery.
