It was like the first book. But more interesting.
Rufus's loveable guinea pig, Fido (remember she acts just like a dog), is back in their next adventure. The story begins where the first one left off with Rufus returning to school after he broke his foot while on a family picnic and Fido saved him by getting help. Rufus has become quite the celebrity (much thanks goes to his friend Murphy for that) and he is not enjoying his new found fame. Everyone wants a guinea pig now that acts just like Fido, especially Dmitri. Lurena is still hanging arou [...]
Picking up just about where the previous book left off, Rufus still loves Fido, who acts more like a dog than a guinea pig. But because his classmates pay so much attention to him because of her, attention he definitely does not want, Rufus tries to train her to act more like a guinea pig. He won't take her on walks, let her sleep with him or even throw bones for her to fetch. As his best friend Murph runs interference for him at school and he tries to repulse Dmitri's efforts to buy Fido, Rufus [...]
A fun read for kids who love pets or dream of having a pet. The silly factor is high (a guinea pig that barks and plays fetch like a dog!) and the wrestling with relationships is relevant and well handled (maybe a girl CAN be a friend even if you don't want her to and maybe the guy at school who bugs you most can be a friend, too or maybe not). Also deals with how to handle worrying about what everyone else thinks of you. Good family values. A good book for reading aloud or a kid reading by them [...]
Fido gives birth to one guinea pig that doesn't act like a dog he acts like a Squirrel! And Rufus gives lurena the baby and she names her queen girlisaur which in my opinion is the weirdest name I've ever heard.
I loved the first book and "We Can't All Be Rattlesnakes". It seemed to me though that the main character completely changed his mind about everything. I did not like this book. I did like the ending, though. (Sorry, no spoilers from me!)
I think it was funny because I saw that there was a new guinea pig and so it looked kinda fun so I read it on audio!
Really fun twist on a pet story.
Some cute parts. My 6 year old liked it. There were some scenes where the kids weren't really nice to each other which I did not appreciate. Overall though an okay story.
A fun and funny sequel to the first book, with a few surprises. Great for kids 7 and up, reading on their own, or for a read aloud.
cute read aloud book with my kids. they loved it just as much as the first one.
