I really enjoyed this book -- Once I started reading, I could barely force myself to put it down! The whole series is very good.
Elin Summerall, widowed mother of four-year-old Josie, has recently undergone a lifesaving heart transplant operation, receiving the heart of Laura Watson, a murder victim. Now she’s experiencing nightmares—memories of murder. Marc Everton is an FBI agent who believes the death of his partner is linked to Laura’s murder, and although he doesn’t really believe in residual memories, he wonders if Elin can help. But there’s a catchI’ve read several books by Colleen Coble, both contempor [...]
“Never judge a book by its cover”. This is a great quote that we have all heard for a long time. I believe that quote fits this book perfectly, as judging by its cover, I think this is a book that a lot of men would overlook. If you did, though, you would be missing a pretty terrific story.Elin has had a difficult life between her father dying, her husband dying and being diagnosed with heart disease. The only good thing has been being able to get a heart transplant. That is, until she start [...]
This third book was, to me, a little different than the first two. It felt to me more like a stand alone book than one that is a part of a series, except for Sara and Josh. They are the only part of it that made it feel tied into the series. Even then, I kept forgetting Sara was in the other two lol. This was quite an interesting story nonetheless! Being a heart transplant recipient, Elin's life just got very interesting! Remembering the donor's death and story made it very real for her, so much [...]
Even though this is book 3 of the series, this can be read as a standalone.I enjoyed this story, but not as much as the first 2 in the series. I didn't like the cell memory plot and didn't really felt connected with Elin and Marc. There was also quite a few loose ends at the end which I didn't feel got clarified. (view spoiler)[The drug story felt like a bit loose. The historical story with the map just ended. And was it Ben or Molesly who killed Marc's partner Will and shot at Marc? (hide spoil [...]
Seagrass Pier is the third book in the Hope Beach series and I have loved every single book! However, don’t fret if you haven’t read the others in the series. Seagrass Pier stands alone as a great romantic suspense.Colleen Coble has done an excellent job creating a very exciting story based on the idea of “cell memory”. Elin is haunted by the memory of the murder of the woman who became Elin’s heart donor. The idea that Elin is a witness to a murder based on a transplanted heart could [...]
Colleen Coble's novels, for me, are marked by three factors. The first factor is the setting, a locale that is always carefully described and full of charm. In this case, it's Hope Beach, a place some readers will know from Tidewater Inn and Rosemary Cottage. Beautiful shoreline, peaceful nights and crime. The second is a small "family" of main characters who you really come to love. In Seagrass Pier, we get to meet Elin Summerall. She's the recipient of a new heart and new memories and new nigh [...]
I am a big fan of the Hope Beach novels. I had to buy the first one after I read the second just because I knew it would be good. I've read a lot of books by Colleen and I really think her suspense/mystery books are the best. While there is tons of romance, it's not the main focus of the story and the intrigue adds so much. That being said I do think the first two books are better but this book is great! Taking you back to Hope Beach we get wrapped up in another murder only this one is being rem [...]
Review posted on i blog 4 books (7/25/2014): iblog4books/2014/Every time I pick up a novel by Colleen Coble I know I'm going to read a great book! Seagrass Pier definitely met that definition and was a great addition to The Hope Beach series.Okay. Let me just go ahead and say that I LOVED Elin and Marc. They were a great couple—with plenty of conflict and romantic tension and sweet moments. I definitely felt bad for Marc when he learns a life-changing truth. (Not cool, Elin!) And things seemed [...]
Great romantic suspense with a different twist. Cell memory. When a woman is strangled to death, Elin, the heroine, receives her heart and the memories that go along with it. She continues having nightmares, reliving the murder. If that's not bad enough, she has a stalker. Marc, our hero, is an FBI agent, who believes his partner was murdered by the person who strangled Elin's heart donor. The story was fast moving, to fast at times, making it had to keep up. There's also a second romance inter [...]
Every book in the the "Hope Beach" series was fantastic, but Seagrass Pier was the icing on the cake! I read this story every chance I could get! Colleen Coble delivers another face-paced suspense full of twists, turns, with a little romance, story that will keep you enthralled page after page! I highly recommend this book! Read my full review here.
Enjoyable, to be sure, but not my favorite. The whole cell memory thing is just creepy, and there seemed to be so many threads, so many bad guys, so many threats . . . I just found it difficult to keep up with them. Some situations seemed a bit of a stretch. But this author does write great stories.
Not my favorite. I thought this book was very poorly written. Thank goodness it was an easy read!
Requested to review through BookLookBloggers! Been waiting for this one for months!!
Okay, readers out there, if you like a really suspenseful and CREEPY!!! book, this one is for you. Oh, man, did I ever get the woolies during this story by Colleen Coble. It fell short of my expectations - 3.5 starsSeagrass Pier is the third book in Colleen Coble’s Hope Beach series. I had really enjoyed the previous books and was anxiously awaiting this one. I’m sorry to say that it fell a bit short of my expectations.Ms. Coble deals with a controversial subject in this novel - cell memory. Do those who receive donor organs actually know or remember things about their donor? Even going so far as having flashbacks that are not their own? I have to admit that [...]
become her own. They call it cell memory, when you begin to remember events and memories from the host organ, in this case her heart. All she knows is that the heart came from a murdered woman named Laura whose killer has never been found. When Elin begins to share her suspicions with those closest to her, they believe it's all in her head. But when she begins to receive threats on her life, those are things you simply can't ignore no matter how far fetched they sound. When Elin purchases an old [...]

Pinning down exactly what it is I enjoy about Colleen’s books isn’t easy. I’m not sure which component in her writing continually pulls me in, but what I do know, whatever the curiosity it always keeps me eagerly flipping the pages. Each of the “Hope Beach” novels have been the breezy kind of reads that define the term “beach read,” and while its setting does play host to reason why, it’s the deeper scars of the characters and its premise that keeps us engrossed (not to mention w [...]

As an avid fan of Colleen Coble, I could hardly wait to read her newest release Seagrass Pier. This book is the third in the Hope Beach series. The first in the series is Tidewater Inn (read my review here) and the second is Rosemary Cottage (read my review here). Both were excellent books to read. I must admit that Seagrass Pier is excellent as well. The story of Seagrass Pier takes place at Hope Beach in North Carolina and is the story of Elin Summerall who works in organ procurements and FBI a [...]

I'm very conflicted on how to review Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble. Did I like it or not?On one hand, I really enjoyed the plot (Elin gets a heart transplant and begins to have nightmares of a murdere one that killed her heart donor). It's a very interesting story and the suspense was good.On the other hand, the writing itself bothered me. The very first chapter threw took much information at you. Then some of the storyline didn't even come together correctly. For instance, the flashbacks show [...]
Heart-Racing Seaside Suspense! In Seagrass Pier, Colleen Coble has penned a heart pounding, suspense-filled novel in the lovely, seaside setting of the quaint little island of Hope Beach, North Carolina. Hope Beach is a veritable vacationer's paradise; with its white sandy beaches, roar of the surf, the fresh salty scent of the sea air, and the moon glimmering on the peaks of the whitecaps--but underneath the guise of warmth and beauty lie deadly secrets, deceit, and murder.Elin Summerall has bee [...]
Colleen Coble's Hope Beach series is the perfect read if you're a landlocked beach lover like me. I've been pining away for the Outer Banks, but unfortunately my vacation isn't coming up anytime soon. Seagrass Pier was the suspenseful escape I needed. While not quite as gripping or romantic as the previous books in the series, it was still nice to read a story that featured new characters and my old favorites from the first two books. Never fear, if you haven't read the first two books in the Hop [...]
pagebypagebookbybook. From the start, Colleen Coble’s Seagrass Pier intrigued me. I have heard mentions of donated organ and the unexplained lingering bits of personality – termed in the book as “cell memory” – but I have never before read a book in which a transplanted organ serves as the key to solving a murder mystery. What a novel idea. Combine that with Coble’s typical mixture of suspense and romance and the product is nothing less than a captivating read. I couldn’t put it dow [...]
