Grey is only a shade lighter than black; it never leads to pure white.Rumpelstiltskin + Rapunzel + Jack + Igor + frankenstein = quite a messy story in a slightly good awkward way tho unlike the other prequels this one leaves me hanging in the end. Rumpelstiltskin is Rapunzel's father, i wonder what happen to her although this is the story of his father. ending tho was a cliff hanger, i didnt quite understand the whole story if it was rumpelstein's or this maker jacob grimm. the frankenstein part [...]

"Rumpelstein" is an unusual version of Rumpelstiltskin; however in this story Frankenstein also makes sn appearance. Of all of the prequels, this one one was my least favorite. I felt the Frankenstein reference was convoluted and not in keeping with the Grimm fairy tales. Also, the final revelation of who Rumpelstein's maker is was anticlimatic for me.

Review will also appear on my blog Pages Full of Stars. My rating: 2.5/6As always, I’ve got to give Cameron Jace a plus for creativity but I thought that there was too much of everything in this installment. I really liked Rapunzel’s story but the reference to Frankenstein, although interesting, felt really out of place and I think the book would’ve been good without it. In addition, I also couldn’t empathise with Rumpelstiltskin, because his narration was rather stiff and I found his tra [...]

Cameron Jace je prostě magiiič. Líbí se mi, jak si hraje s pohádkami a míchá je do sebe, jako by to bylo úplně normální. :)

"Call me Rumpelstein. It’s the new name I was given by my Maker; the man who created me for reasons beyond my knowledge. Then again, who knows the real reasons for their creation?""My advice would be to think of it as a fairy tale. After all, fairy tales are a good way to believe the unbelievable.""As I’m writing this now, I can’t stop laughing at the old naïve me. I’m no longer part of the good of the world. In fact, good people, like I used to be, bore me to death now. They make me ya [...]

Actual rating: 1.75 starsThis has a very poor start, the narrator was childish and not very articulate, making it difficult to pity him as the author tried to do in the beginning. Although it improved as we got further into the story, on the whole it didn’t change my opinion all that much. My sister who had observed me reading said that maybe it was because we started out in the story when he was a child but then, if this is written as a diary entry, the adult version of Rumpelstein had been w [...]

I was a bit disappointed with this prequel. Rumpelstiltskin is one of my favourite fairytale characters (ever after hearing Nolle Versyp telling his story on tv when I ws like 4 or 5, I've always liked this fairytale). Okay, might be a bit weird to like this character but I just always felt kind of sorry for him.He did make a deal with the queen, he deserves to get what she promised him (even if it is a baby --> granted that is a bit weird) But you know, the queen is really really mean in the [...]

I love these books. In this prequel we see how Rapunzel came to be. Rumpelstilskin is her father, a beloved good man who only wants to take care and provide for his family. While he is not e most handsome man he is good and kind. You should read his to find out how Rapunzel came to have her long hair and how she saves her family. Why she is wanted by the Queen of Sorrows and how Rumpelstilskin becomesFrankenstein. I have been drawn in to these fairytales and love these version better than any fa [...]

★★★½☆《Perhaps goodness and evil weren’t attributes. They were jobs, and I sucked at being good. It’s easy claiming you’re good. The hardest part is to have the heart to live up to it. The line between good and evil is fuzzy, and you could easily drown in the oblivious grey in between. Grey is only a shade lighter than black; it neverleads to pure white.》《We’ve all tried to be good and failed. There’s nothing new to that; it happens every day. Blame it on Mama and Papa, w [...]

3.5this one was okay. again i loved jack being in it. totally random about rapunzel but then again this whole series is random. and igor and frankenstein(?) totally did not see that coming! over all it gets a 3.5 but i will say i am interesting in reading this book. havent said that about any of the books so far. there is just so many questions that i wanted answered in this book. is it me or is anyone else or has anyone else whose read the book fairy RECENTLY totally been picturing these charac [...]

my thoughts – This book is about rumpelstiltskin who later becomes named as rumpelstein. He is a good guy with a good heart that quests for nothing but the best for his family. In the end the queen of sorrow takes his family from him and he has to quest to find them. He has to decide whether he is good or evil while all along within himself he believes he is still good. I wonderful read with a surprise ending.reason for reading - I received a copy of this book in return for an honest [...]

One of Jace's better works, and another one where he managed to twist quite an original story by combining two of my favorite fairytales: Rumpelstiltskin and Rapunzel (and a little bit of Frankenstein, too.) This story is the tale of how Rumpelstiltskin came to be the villain that he is- and a lot of it has to do with his daughter, Rapunzel. My only complaint with this story is the big reveal at the end- perhaps it'll be explained later in the actual series, but to me, it didn't make much sense. [...]

Rumpelstein is basically about how Rumpelstiltskin got his name and why he went from good to evil. There's also a bit of Frankenstein involved, but I think I've given too much. It's also shortly after Moon & Madly (at least, I'm assuming that and I have reasons). Oh, and Ladle Rat makes an appearance too! Personally I think she's one of my favorites, even though she might have to kill me one day.Fairy tales are a good way to believe the unbelievable

As with all of Cameron Jace's prequels, Rumpelstein takes on an interesting twist in the classic fairy tales. It's hard to really talk about the story without spoiling too much, but it adds to the mystery and history of the world he's created in the Grimm Diaries. This wasn't my favorite of the prequels, but wasn't my least favorite either. It's certainly worth reading if you're going to be reading the Grimm Diaries installments.

First off, I never read Rumpelstiltskin's story and I have no idea who and what he does but I'm guessing he isn't one of the good guys. But in this version he is Rapunzel's father (Which I'm sure is Jace's work) and then he becomes Rumpelstein (Frankenstein anyone?) and it's story where he tells how he became bad from good.

Rumpelstiltskin is one of my fav. stories, but cameron jace surprised me again with this beautiful yet somewhat deadly storyd the end left me wanting for morehis makers name i too was confused like rumpel. and the best surprise the author gave was by portraying "Rapunzel" as Rumpelstiltskin's daughter.

so this was a connecting story that explained both Repunzel, Rumple, and Frankinstine (Rumplestien). it was ok, and a need to read in the series, just wish Jace would have done more with this character.

I usually don't quote lines From books, but my favorite one has got to be,"Grey is only a shade lighter than black; it never leads to pure white." this was a very interesting story to say the least

This one was my least favorite. I was kind of bummed; because Frankenstein doesn't seem to fit in here. I love Frankie! I kind of felt like this prequel needed a little more. Either way, I love Cameron's work!

Nápady zajímavé, ale čtivosti ubylo. I když konec s Ďáblem to zase zvedl o několik úrovní. A Ladle, scéna s Ladle byla taky fajn. Červené karkulky jsou velmi zajímavé skoro ve všech podobách své pohádky.

3.25 stars. The story of Rumpelstiltskin and Frankenatein have never been my favorites so this story didn't appeal to me as much as others. It was, however, still enjoyable. This story had more spelling and grammar errors like the first sequels.

great twisted fairytale story, but needs new editors.

love

I loved Rumpelstein and Rapunzel, but I didn't like the ending. I suppose I should have seen it coming though.

i love rumpel. no matter what his name is. :)

aurora

This installment has more backstory. It combined three stories, that of Rumpelstiltskin, Rapunzel and Frankeinstein. While it isn't one of the better prequels, it certainly isn't one of the worst.

What! This one had it allTotal fun in pages:) Spinning wheels, witches, lettuce, hair, reanimation! It's all thereaziness! Still enjoying the whole new spin on my fairy tales!

Another odd tale about rumplestiltskin this time, who according to this story is rapunzel's father!

Good, as always! Longer review to be posted on the 7-10 bundle.
