Fantastic book, definitely my favorite of the three. April is just about ready to open the inn, but it desperately needs to be landscaped first. Patrick's family business is recommended to her as being the best. She is startled at first by his scars, but immediately apologizes for her reaction. There is an immediate connection between the two, but both have things they need to overcome before they can reach their happy ending.I really liked both April and Patrick. April had had a challenging chi [...]

A sweet, holiday read with a scarred hero and a strong heroine. Templeton at her best.

A Gift for all Seasons by Karen Templeton 4 STARSA Gift for all Seasons is a cute romance at times I teared up and others laughed with them. Thier are a few love scenes that I skipped over.April Ross knows what she wants and is not afraid to go for it. After the death of her husband April has a lot of money. April buys out her cousins part of the house that they inhierited from thier grandmother. April decides to remodel and turn it back into a inn. Her one cousin helped her with the decorating [...]

Review featured on books-n-kisses3.5 Stars This is very cute holiday read. It is pretty typical of the holiday story (even movie) that we see so much of. Man thinks his life has to wrap around his kid, he can’t love both, he’s been hurt before Woman has a heart as big as all outdoors and proves to him he can love and be loved. That being said it is written very well. Patrick is a wounded vet with scars inside and out who the reader will fall in love with. April is a little too goody goody fo [...]

This book tell the story of April who at first glance was surprised to see Patrick's scar face but it did not deter her from falling in love with him. April who recently widowed, is determined to show Patrick that they worth a second chance together. However, Patrick who aware about their attraction is determined to resist at all cost as he doesnt want to get caught in the emotional web and also for the well being of his daughter's sake. I really admired April's determination in fighting for Pat [...]

Another lovely book by a super talented RITA winning author.

Poor quality writing interfered with story.

I haven’t read too many books by Karen Templeton and I’m not quite sure why. The few that I have read, I’ve enjoyed a lot so I really need to get over myself and read more of her stuff. With the holidays just around the corner, I picked this story up and thought that it would get me into the holiday spirit and I think it has. This book follows April Ross and Patrick Shaughnessy. April came into a lot of money is a restoring her grandmother’s big ol’ house and turning it into a B&B. S [...]

I had a bit of a holiday read marathon which included this sweet story. It has heart… a cute kid… a wounded warrior… and a woman with a very giving heart… what isn't to like??April has secrets of her own but they aren't bad just different. She's decided to make her grandparent's home back in to an inn and needs work done on the landscaping. She's not ever really had a nice life but her deceased husband left her with quite a bit of money so she doesn't have to worry about not being able t [...]

Patrick Shaughnessy was injured and severely scarred from an explosion when he was serving time in Iraq. Through many months of thereapy, physical and emotional, many graffs and surgeries, Parick still holds the scars inside and out. On top of that, his wife Natalie leaves him with their small daughter Lilli because she can't handle his "ugliness", panic attacks and nightmares. He works for a landscaping business and is contracted to do the job for the new widow April Ross who has just bought he [...]

Templeton, who is one of my favorite category writers, says in a letter to her readers that the character of Patrick Shaughnessy was inspired by J. R. Martinez, the former soldier turned actor who was severely burned during his service in Iraq. Templeton was beginning April’s story as Martinez was winning Season 13 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and the idea for her hero was born. Of course, Martinez is eons ahead of Patrick in self-acceptance and the courage to live life. These are the le [...]

Bit of a fluffy read - no real depth of characterisation - too short. Felt like it had been longer novel which had been cut down to size to fit into the required 'short story' length. More of a palate cleanser than a decent romance sized novel. Too short for plot other than boy meets girl. Not inspired to read the other two novels in the series.

a touching story with detailed characters dealing with life, love, doubt and faith - link to full review can be found at romanticreadsandsuch.wordpress

This book has a RITA award. How is beyond me. The dialogue was choppy, the characters were like oil and water. Overall, unappealing and extremely unromantic.

Karen Templeton hit this one out of the park! I loved it.

Not very Christmassy - just a couple of days of decorating - but a sweet romance none-the-less.

2013 Rita Winner (Best Long Contemporary Series Romance)

A lovely story of love and family and second chances!

Miniseries: Summer SistersCategory: Heart & Home

For some reason, this book was really visual to me. I found it easy to picture the people, settings, etc.
