There are not many children's books about Hannibal. I wonder why? This book was really fun. The boys loved it. The illustrations were great and the story was well-written. She spent a lot of time with the pre-campaign and you don't really find out what happened once he crossed the mountains. But then again, this is a children's book and is only an introduction. We'll use this one again.

Fun easy reader for young children about Hannibal and his training elephants for war and their journey across the Rhone River and through the Alps. His brothers and parents are introduced as people who always fight each other, Hannibal's knowledge of geography proves valuable again and again.

I loved it, I want a pet elephant so I can train it too!
