Free. | Oddly satisfying, even though it shouldn't be | If I were to explain the plot it would sound pretty awful, really, and the book is populated by some fairly selfish terrible people. Somehow, though, it does satisfy. Not really a mystery, the crimes are all attempted murder, the culprits are known from the start, the motive is very clear, and since it's obvious that the intended victim will survive to the last page (he's the romantic lead), the only question is how the would-be killers wil [...]

Excellent Romantic Suspense from 1932From the prolific pen of Patricia Wentworth, this romance will keep you on the edge of your seat, as both the hero and heroine are equally at danger. In many Gothic romances of this type by contemporary writers only the woman is up against the wall. I think you'll enjoy this one. I sure did. No gore, minimal violence, no coarse language. A great for fans of Phyllis Whitney, Barbara Michaels, and Mary Stewart. Also for Victoria Holt fans if you don't mind step [...]

For those who enjoy Patricia Wentworth mysteries, if you were raised on Grace Livingston Hill, these titles are very similar. A splash of romance and a pinch of mystery. While this one is a little more transparent in its plot, from the beginning you know who is out to kill the main hero, it's still an enjoyable read. Read this if you are reading your way through the Patricia Wentworth mysteries. Personally my favorite are the Miss Silver mysteries (this is not one of them).

For some reason I've been loving the cozy British mysteries lately. This one involves Jervis Weare, rich and engaged, and Nan Forsyth, attorney's secretary who has secretly loved Weare for years. When Weare is suddenly jilted, he has 3 days to find a wife or lose his inheritancebut some people seem quite determined to make sure he never inherits(duh duh duh)

3.5 stars. This was a cute little mystery. I picked up a couple of Patricia Wentworth's books not long ago and I'm looking forward to the others also.

Really enjoyed this one, very easy to emphasise with the heroine.

My favorite Wentworths are the mysteries without Miss Silver. Loved this one!

Enjoyable entry in the Miss Silver mystery series

Very lightweight story, enjoyable couple of hours but not much more to it.
