I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading the next two. Bud is a very lovable character and I want to sit on the dock with him over some strong cowboy coffee (even if he has to wuss it down with cream!) and listen to his stories and ooh and ahh over his photos! The scenic descriptions of Oregon desert country make me want to load up my RV and head that way! I want to stop at every little gas station that might have once been a Pony Express stop! Write on!!

Enjoyable ReadI enjoyed the story and the style. There wasn't a forced sense of drama or suspense. Well developed characters and believable dialogue. Just an easy, pleasant read.

GoodGood murder mystery. Just got the book in the series. Only hope it is a bit longer. Reminds me soon of the books by Steve Havel. JA Jance, CJ Box, and Crag Johnson. If you like that style of writing you'll like this.

Sheriff Henry ‘Bud’ Blair has a cushy job; high-sheriff in a small town in Oregon’s high desert, his main task is to chase down cattle rustlers and deal with domestic disputes. When a local rancher is found dead near his barn, it’s treated as an accident, but when Bud examines the scene, and later sees the autopsy report, he knows it was no accident. Then another local, a man with a known hot temper, is arrested and confesses to the crime, Bud is suspicious. He’s certain that someone o [...]

Far exceeded my expectations. Tempted to award 5-stars for holding my attention so firmly. Started and finished it in a few hours and look forward with pleasure to reading next in series. Would like to see it available in libraries.Collins clearly depicted a little known area of Oregon using a cast created from realistic characters. I rate Collins up with my favorite authors of crime fiction. As a bonus, some of the facts and settings were pleasantly new to me. For instance, a quote from page 56 [...]

Spider Silk Collins. I found the protagonist, Bud, to be a lovable character who admitted his faults and did not blame others when he came to grief in a stakeout. He's been burned with his wife, and perhaps his last job, and is hoping for a quiet life in the sticks. Unfortunately I haven't been to Oregon so I needed it painted a little bit more. However, there is plenty of action and love shown to a dog so it's a feel-good story, too. A good mystery with a bit of romance thrown in.

Spider SilkA very well written story. The characters are well developed and easy to relate with. The story is set in a beautiful area of America. An area I would love to visit someday. A mystery with many twists and turns, it kept me wondering until the end. I would recommend it to all lovers of a good mystery and beautiful locations. There is also good clean romance and humor. Enjoy.

Decent mystery but the real draw is that it is set in my home area of Lakeview, Oregon.
