Wow! This is a life-changing, inspirational book. Kristin Lamb uses humor to enlighten the writer/blogger how to gain a strong social media presence. I laughed my way through this book, gobbling up every word. I will buy her other book, "We Are Not Alone". All writers who are serious about their writing career must get this book. Her simple, sensible, and doable techniques will vault any writer cringing or fearing social media to master this new world order. I love that the main theme of this bo [...]
I bought Are You There Blog? It's Me, Writer at the same time as Ms. Lamb's other book, We Are Not Alone: The Writer's Guide to Social Media and, yes, there is overlap. However, blogging is kind of the hub of an overall writer's platform and helps to establish brand. It all works together, so it's going to overlap.I liked the section on deciding what blog content is right for you AND your readers. It's a relief to learn that writers don't NEED to blog about writing, because, honestly, it bores m [...]

Not bad at all, although considering all the quite nasty hatespeech that goes on online under aliases, a bit too trusting of the willingness of all people to 'serve'. Like a lot of ebooks especially, there's a fair amount of plugging the author's other book, but if you're not too distracted by this apparent trend, there's a fair amount to get you going building a blogging community.
Great guide for getting the most out of your blog! Practical advice delivered with a snap of humor. Definitely recommended.
Are You There, Blog? It’s Me, Writer by Kristen Lamb 198 pages 5/5 starsI’ve been reading Kristen Lamb’s blog for a few months now. I can’t remember how I first discovered it, but it’s definitely worth reading. She blogs about writing and social media, with a definite slant toward social media. Having a platform before you get published is now more important than ever and Are You There, Blog? It’s Me, Writer is a great introduction to blogging and the importance of blogging about the [...]
I downloaded this book on my Kindle this week because I'm planning to relaunch my blog soon, and I wanted a few tips to make it better. Kristen Lamb's way of writing is engaging, and she has many good tips, but I feel that this book is more beneficial to someone who has never blogged before or who wants to know why they should blog. Since I've been blogging off and on for several years, there weren't many surprises here. That's not to say I'm a good blogger at all - I've been horrible this past [...]

I enjoyed reading this book. Kristen tells it like it is, yet she also tells it with humour and motivation, making this a pleasure to read. Her approach towards blogging and social media is sheer common sense. I'm glad I had pen and paper ready to make notes - now I just need to put Kristen's advice into practice. Highly recommended for writers new to blogging and social media (and for those of us still trying to find our way).
What can I say? This book is exactly what the doctor ordered. If you're new to the social-media platform game, haven't a clue how to start--or want to know why what you're doing isn't working--then get this book. Kristen has done the leg-work for you and shows you, step by step, how to plan, start, and grow your readershipNUS: Wonderfully informative, it is peppered with well-placed humor, making it not only a GoodRead, but a GreatRead.
This book was so filled with wisdom, I read it onceok notesad it twicehighlighted my notes. Easy to understand and even easier to implement. Brilliant. Who doesn't want a free hall pass to be their best self and create solid relationships based on authenticity. Don't dawdle, RUN get your copy. Then subscribe to Kristen's blog at warriorwriters.wordpress/ for more great informationd a laugh out loud good time.
Read WANA first. After reading this I'm even more motivated, planning to review WANA and apply what I'm learning Yikes! Marketing and the business side of writing is considerably less formidable than before. The best thing about Kristen's books is their focus on service and community. They make me want to contribute, not just take from (and sell to) others.
Kristen writes with humor and honesty. This is a must read for all writers but really this book can help anyone with a blog. If you use your blog to connect with a professional community, then this book is a must for you as well.My blog is less than a year old. After reading Kristen's book I finally seem to get it.
I think Miss Lamb is a bit too focused on selling books than on writing them. It doesn't really help that she's very self-centered and advocates the same annoying hawking of her book that she herself performs. I could only get through a few pages before I gave up, because her arrogance just rubbed me the wrong way.In short: There are much better books on social media out there.
This book was sooo useful and helpful! My Twitter followers tripled in less than 2 months after beginning to follow Kristen's suggestions. So much more to do, but she helps you not freak out about all the work. Just do one thing at a time. So glad I bought this book. :)
This is really good for the beginnier blogger, and even for someone like me who blogs already and needs focus. It has made me realise that I can blog about different things under one blog, which is what I have started to do now. Thank you, Kristen.
I didn't care for this author's voice. She was trying to be funny, but it was not a very sophisticated humor and didn't appeal to me. It also reduced her credibility with me. She may have had some good information to share but I couldn't get past the second chapter.
Kristen Lamb is as awesome as ever, and as entertaining too! Practical advice and rationale in equal measure about the necessity of an author's blog for every writer. The honesty and practicality of this book make it one of my top resources for establishing a healthy writing career!
As a writer, I'm still trying to fathom the mysteries of self-promotion. I enjoy Kristen Lamb's voice; her wit and light heartnessness helps to make appealing a subject that normally makes me want to put my head in the oven.
Great informational book written in a funny, casual voice that gives great tips on blogging for authors. Wish I'd read it months ago. Now I want to buy the other book and read it and then reread and take notes.
Not quite finished with it yet because I keep putting it down to try to do what she says to do! (Times a wasting and all that.) Love her voice (wry, amusing) and feel like this book has info on it that's fresh and extremely do-able. Can't recommend it highly enough.
A good book with helpful information, but not as good as Kristen's other book "We Are Not Alone." Are You There Blog gets a bit repetitive.
Interesting with some tips/
This book made me realise that I wasn't doing it all wrong. Making friends is the right way to go
A well written well balanced book that answers many questions about blogging and other social media. Should be read by anyone venturing into marketing.
Great info for building a blog and social media platform. Entertaining enough to be engaging but lots of great information to start out and improve.
Great help to me over this past year getting my blogging and social media career started. Highly recommend.
If you're a writer who blogs, you need to be a reader who reads this book. Loved it! Thanks Kristen. <3
I enjoy Kristen's sense of humour and writing style in her two writing-craft / promotion for writers books, and there are some helpful tips in this one, for those new to blogging.
Some great information in this book if you're a blogger or thinking about becoming one. I realized some mistakes I've made and am still making. At least now I have some direction.
